The Bakersfield Women's Business Conference

21st Annual Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference
BAKERSFIELD, California-January 20, 2010 – The Options Unlimited Executive Committee announced today that the keynote speaker for the 21st Annual Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference, Thursday April 22, 2010, at the Rabobank Arena Theater and Convention Center is Joan Lunden.
Award- winning television journalist, best-selling author, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and mother of seven, Joan Lunden defines “today’s working mother.” A passion for disseminating wellness information and inspiring people to take charge of their health and happiness has been at the forefront of many of Lunden’s projects.
Today, Joan travels all over the country speaking to women’s organizations about her life and career, family health and working with women to create the tools needed to achieve a healthier balance in their lives.
Opening speaker, Cindy Solomon, will challenge conference attendees to take more risks, do more with less, and try to anticipate the future as their personal lives become more demanding. Whether you work for a company, run your own business or work at home, courage is becoming an ever more critical skill. Solomon’s extensive research shows that everyone can build their “courage skills” and help create the strong, productive culture you and your company need to succeed in today’s tumultuous business environment.
DeLores Pressley will close the conference with her presentation “The Power of Leading a Significant Life.” She will enlighten the audience on the importance of harnessing your own individual strengths to succeed and build a quality life that matters. Learn to be important in the lives of others and in the world of business and you will, in turn, control your destiny and lead a life of significance.
For the first time in its 21-year history, the Women’s Business Conference is partnering with a local nonprofit organization, the American Cancer Society’s Discovery Shop. The conference Board of Directors is asking all conference attendees to bring a gently used professional garment of clothing such as a suit, a dress, a pair of trousers, blouse or shoes. All donations will go to the Discovery Shop located here in Bakersfield to assist local women who are in need of business attire for that interview or for that first day of a new job.
The Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference won a 2007 Beautiful Bakersfield Award in the category of Business and Commerce, recognizing our event for providing networking opportunities and offering many tangible resources and tools to support personal and professional growth for our attendees. This year, the conference Board of Directors, chaired by Graci Griebling, is planning a variety of instructional and motivational seminars designed to help women succeed in their lives, whether they are just starting out or have already established their careers.
With three dynamic keynoters and an extensive list of experts and speakers presenting seminars on relevant topics, the 2010 Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference is the perfect opportunity for women to enhance their business skills.
The conference is scheduled from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, at the Rabobank Arena Theater and Convention Center on Thursday, April 22, 2010. The attendance fee is $90 and registration begins in March. Tables with assigned seating can be purchased on a first come first serve basis.
